After surpassing its collection goal last year, BIR Revenue Region (RR) No. 5, Caloocan City led by Regional Director Tomas C. Rosales kicked off its drive to accomplish a repeat of the same collection performance by launching its tax campaign for taxable year 2012 last February 10, 2012 at the Events Center, SM Valenzuela City.
Their regional tax campaign slogan for 2012 is “Buwis Alay Sa Ating Bansa” which reinforces the BIR’s tax campaign theme this year which is “I LOVE PHILIPPINES, I PAY TAXES.” The theme is in consonance with the advocacy of BIR Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares that the payment of taxes is for the love of country and that taxes are essential building blocks to uplift the life of every Filipino.
Former “Will Time Big Time” host and incumbent Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani S. Soledad-Romulo was among those who graced the annual event. In her message, she emphasized the importance of paying taxes not only as an obligation but also its impact on the delivery of public goods and services. She vowed to support the BIR in its drive to collect more taxes this year.
Representatives of various groups that include the LGUs, Tax Practitioners, Business Sector, students and PICPA also gave their messages of support for the tax agency. Among them were Osmundo Salonga, Jr. of PICPA Bulacan Chapter and Robert Ong of the Caloocan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Showbiz personalities John Estrada and Randy Santiago hosted the program. Giselle Sanchez and Jenny Miller entertained the crowd and shared hosting duties with Estrada and Santiago.
In other news, Revenue Region No. 4, Pampanga likewise held its 2012 Tax Campaign Kick-Off last February 15, 2012 at the Mimosa Convention Hall, Clark Airbase, Angeles City. Part of the program is an interaction with stakeholders to affirm their partnership with BIR in the latter’s drive of collecting more taxes for nation-building.
Regional Director Araceli L. Francisco led the affair with a presentation showcasing one’s love for country as can also be expressed through the payment of the taxes rightfully due to the government.
