High Hopes in High Places

Through the collective efforts of the agency’s officials and staff members and sincerity of its taxpayers, the BIR Cordillera Administrative Region exceeded its collection by 36.24 percent or P122,313,630.41 for the month of February 2010.Actual monthly collection showed that RDO 10 – Bontoc, Mountain Province headed by Peter George Caburao ranked No. 1, an increase in collection by 70.71 percent or P10,495,046.85.

This is followed by RDO 7 – Bangued, Abra headed by Elmer Paderes with 43.31 percent or P7,427,525.99.

RDO 8 – Baguio City headed by Fely Simon came third on the list with 37.54 percent or P75,506,248.81.

The BIR offices in this region has high hopes in continuing the excellent collection performance despite tax eroding measures that Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had signed such as the Bill on Senior Citizens Act of 2010, Implementing Rules and Regulations for Cooperatives and reduction of tax on premiums and exemption of Local Water Districts.

Regardless of these constraints, the BIR Region 2 is in high spirits that the goal allocated to it in the coming months will be reached.

Revenue Special Order was recently issued to revenue employees of the region to serve in designated Taxpayer Service Centers in selected barangays of the city. The designated personnel will assist taxpayers intending to file their Income Tax Returns and no payment returns are to be received in the various barangays from March 15 to April 15, 2010. (mar)
