The magnitude of the collection goal laid out this year is very clear in the mind of Commissioner Tan-Torres, and is focused on measures he has set out to do to attain that objective. Find the right people to get the job done.

Quezon City, 19 January, 2010 – Gearing up to intensify revenue collection for the year, the Bureau of Internal Revenue under the leadership of Commissioner Joel L. Tan-Torres continues to reshuffle its personnel since its first revamp in December of last year, bringing to a total of 804 the personnel transferred to key positions in the agency involved in these personnel movement.

The BIR has moved 80 revenuers last 2009 and another 724 personnel this 2010.

As Commissioner Tan-Torres pointed out, the reshuffle is essential to meet the collection goal for 2010.

The move is expected to maximize operational efficiency of field officials that will improve performance thru high-visibility public awareness programs on taxpayer service and enforcement campaigns of the BIR.

The reorganization will hopefully put the right people in the right places, which will help the Bureau achieve its mandate of collecting the taxes needed by our government in the service of our country and its people.

Progress of all revenue officers will be evaluated & monitored based on key performance indicators. Thus periodic transfers of personnel will be done to ensure that the achievers are rewarded and the non-performers placed in less responsible assignments.
