The Committee, upon completion of its tasks, hopes to minimize the impact of tax eroding measures and investment incentives on revenue collection/performance and thus, help boost the BIR’s task of meeting its P830B collection goal for calendar year 2010.

Quezon City, 19 January 2010 – In pursuit of one of the strategies contained in the BIR Strategy Map which is to closely monitor tax eroding measures and investment incentives programs, the Bureau of Internal Revenue is set to form a Tax Exemptions and Incentives Committee with Deputy Commissioner Lucita G. Rodriguez as Chairperson.

The Committee shall be responsible for drafting Revenue Regulations implementing newly-enacted laws granting tax incentives and exemptions. It shall likewise prepare a study in quantifying tax eroding measures, their impact on revenue goal determination and performance evaluation, including comments for bills pending legislation.

To complement such tasks and to ensure stricter implementation of relevant laws by the revision of existing revenue issuances, the Committee will undertake a review as well as monitoring of tax eroding measures/bills and their implementing rules and regulations.
