“This reshuffle is crucial to the present thrust of the Bureau of meeting its collection goal for this year,” Commissioner Tan-Torres said.

Quezon City, 08 January, 2010 – In a move to boost revenue collection for 2010, the Bureau of Internal Revenue under the leadership of Commissioner Joel L. Tan-Torres has continued the reshuffle of its personnel since its first revamp in December of last year, bringing to a total of 283 personnel  transferred to key positions in the agency in the recent weeks.

“This reshuffle is crucial to the present thrust of the Bureau of meeting its collection goal for this year,” Commissioner Tan-Torres said.

“We have to obtain maximum operational efficiency of field officials starting this year in all Revenue Offices to effect the implementation of high-visibility public awareness programs  on taxpayers service and enforcement campaigns of the Bureau,” Tan-Torres added.

“With right people in the right places, performance could produce the desired effect of the  Bureau achieving its mandate of collecting the  taxes for the government and its people,” the Commissioner further added.

“The BIR will continue to evaluate the performance of all revenue officers based on certain key performance indicators and conduct periodic transfers of personnel to ensure that the over-achievers are rewarded and the non-performers placed in less responsible assignment,” Commissioner Tan-Torres explained.
